WATER TOUR: SAIMAA CANAL

A boat tour along the Saimaa Canal, built in the mid-19th century, connecting Lake Saimaa in Finland with the Vyborg Bay. We invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the relatively recent past. You will learn about the nearly 200-year history of the Saimaa Canal and see it with your own eyes. We will travel through it on a comfortable boat and discuss how this 1,000-verst waterway connected St. Petersburg with Saimaa, influencing the economy of Eastern Finland in the 19th century.

We will pass through the historic Lavola Lock (built in 1856) and observe the operating Brusnichnoye Lock. If we're lucky, we may witness the fascinating process of ship lockage. Near Brusnichnoye Lock is the old Justila Lock, now used for water drainage, resembling a magnificent cascading waterfall.

Breathtaking views of Karelian nature will unfold before you from the boat as we navigate the Saimaa Canal. The tour is conducted by a professional certified guide. The journey takes place on the Silver Star Eagle Cabin 650, featuring a panoramic glass cabin with heating and an open deck for those who enjoy fresh air.

WATER TOUR: MYSTERIOUS ISLANDS

This specially designed route offers guests a chance to discover the unique beauty of the Vyborg Bay islands. Enjoy breathtaking landscapes and capture stunning photos of these picturesque locations.

The Vyborg Bay is home to countless islands, shaped by ancient glaciers. This explains their characteristic form: steep, towering cliffs on the north side and smooth, polished granite slabs on the south. Many islands still hold historical remnants, including watchtowers, fortifications, artillery batteries, and bunkers.

As the boat glides gently across the water, weaving between dozens of stunning islands, you'll have a perfect opportunity to take in every detail of these historical and natural wonders.

WATER TOUR: VYBORG BAY SKERRIES

A tour through the skerries—small, rocky islands separated by narrow straits. The word "skerry" originates from Scandinavian languages, meaning "rock in the sea."

Our boat will navigate through winding channels, passing close to small granite islands. The breathtaking Karelian landscape will leave a lasting impression. Like the ancient Vikings—the first seafarers of this region—we will follow a "secret waterway" through the skerries while uncovering centuries of history.

The pristine air, untouched nature, and stunning scenery will allow you to recharge and feel rejuvenated.

WATER TOUR: MAYACHNY ISLAND

A sea voyage to the lighthouses of Vyborg Bay. This comfortable boat excursion will take you to Povorotny Lighthouse, located on Mayachny Island.

Built in 1924, Povorotny Lighthouse is still in excellent condition and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Constructed during Finland’s sovereignty over Vyborg, this minimalist, 13-meter-tall, white octagonal lighthouse with a red lantern structure is a remarkable example of early 20th-century Nordic architecture.

The lighthouse features a flashing beacon, emitting green, red, or white light, depending on the sector, at 18 meters above sea level. The signals can be seen from 2 miles (green) to 7 miles (white).

The LED system is powered by solar panels mounted on the southern wall, supplemented by rechargeable batteries. Inside, a spiral staircase leads to the lantern room and the circular balcony, offering stunning panoramic views.
